Aftercare | Matt Vaught Tattoos

In order to ensure premium tattoo quality please adhere to the following instructions, and use only the following products: H2Ocean Tattoo Aftercare Cream, Dial Antibacterial Liquid Soap; and Plain, White, Fragrance-Free Lotion (i.e. Lubriderm) During the first two to three days of healing, wash the tattooed area every 3-5 hours (depending on the amount of seepage) with a small amount of Dial Liquid Soap and water. Do not scrub your tattoo, but wash thoroughly, until it no longer feels “slimy.” After you have completely washed the tattoo, pat dry with a paper towel. It is extremely important you take these steps during these initial 48-72 hours to not only keep the tattoo clean but to also keep scab-forming blood plasma and platelets from building up too thick. Please be aware that the tattoo is an open wound and should be treated as such. After the initial 24-48 hours, your tattoo will start to dry out. This is when you can begin applying the white, unscented lotion as needed. You want to moisturize without “smothering” your tattoo. After the first 3 days continue to wash the tattooed area 2-3 times a day for the next 2 weeks with a mixture of Liquid Dial soap and water. After the tattooed area is washed and dried apply a thin coat of lotion to the entire area making sure to not over-apply as the tattoo needs to “breathe”. Monitor the tattoo in between cleanings; if the tattoo becomes dry rewash and apply a thin layer of lotion to the entire area as needed.
